Coburn Place

Supportive Service

"They (Coburn Place staff) let you be a woman – no pressure – you can make your own decisions; we have so much on our minds all the time, and everyone here understands that." - D.S., Coburn Place resident

Access to supportive services is a barrier to living a healthy, independent life for many homeless women surviving domestic violence. We provide access to services, both on-site and off-site. Our staff, contracted employees and partner agencies work together to provide a complete set of services designed to help move our women and children toward a life of self-sufficiency.

Each resident at Coburn Place is on an individual journey to healing and independence. For some of our women, just having someone to listen to them can make a world of difference. Our advocates become their partners. Together they develop a plan that is right for her. She sets short- and long-term goals, establishes a plan of action and chooses the supportive services that are right for her and her family. We feel this voluntary services model coupled with a “housing plus” approach to ending homelessness and the cycle of violence, is the most effective way to help our women help themselves.
