NEED FOR SERVICES IS HIGH
Lisa Benjamin

Families in our community rely on domestic violence shelters and transitional housing programs, like Coburn Place, for safety and for support. Did you know that Coburn Place operates from a wait list? Today, 60 individuals and families have submitted applications for housing and are waiting on an opening to move into Coburn Place.  Coburn Place can only serve 35 families at one time and we offer housing for up to 24 months. This means that Coburn Place will never serve big numbers of survivors, but we hope to have a big impact on the survivors that we serve.

Many of our residents come from emergency shelters, which are operating in an overflow capacity.  You can read more about the strain on domestic violence service providers in our community at indystar.com.
